Holly + Marcel’s Garden Wedding

So often when I’m meeting with couples, they tell me that none of the music they love is really ‘wedding friendly.’ What that usually means is that they don’t listen to a lot of Top 40. However, while Top 40 usually is what keeps the dance floor moving, I love, love love playing the music that you love throughout your wedding day.

Holly and Marcel were unapologetic about their music tastes in the best way possible, and I was able to play so many of their faves throughout the day. We totally bonded over our love of The Cure, and they incorporated a number of sweet covers of The Cure’s songs in their ceremony and reception, plus I played a number of originals during cocktails and dinner.

In addition to their great taste in New Wave, some of the artists on Holly and Marcel’s ‘must play’ list included: Radiohead, The XX, Lana Del Ray, Grizzly Bear, M Ward, Depeche Mode, Simon & Garfunkel, David Bowie, Leon Bridges, The Smiths, Florence and The Machine and Duran Duran.

Here’s the music they chose for the special moments throughout their wedding day…

Ceremony:
Marcel’s Entrance: I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing - Aerosmith
Holly’s Entrance: All Cats Are Grey - Nouvelle Vague
Signing: The Deserters - Rachel Zeffira
Recessional: Mystery of Love - Sufjan Stevens

Reception:
Grand Entrance:
Rock Me Amadeus - Falco
First Dance: Love Song - Adele

Due to venue noise restrictions, our dance floor time was limited to just one and a half hours, but we managed to have a pretty amazing dance party in that time! Here are some photos from Holly and Marcel’s day, taken by the talented Haley Erdegard. Enjoy!
