Carla + Kevin’s Sweet Rustic Wedding

All images by BRZ Photography

It would be easy to list all of the things that made Carla and Kevin’s wedding beautiful, but the thing that caught my attention beyond the abundance of pretty details was the way that they celebrated all of the people they love. From their herd of nieces and nephews in the bridal party to all of the heartfelt words shared about the people in their lives, it was clear that Carla and Kevin’s wedding was just as much about their love for their friends and family as it was about their love for each other.

Despite the weather being miserable all morning, just in time for the ceremony to begin the rain stopped and the wind died down. The ceremony was clearly true to who Carla and Kevin are - sweet, sentimental, with a good sense of humour. There were lots of family members in the bridal party - including the adorable gaggle of flower girls and ring bearers that I mentioned earlier.

The music that they chose set the tone perfectly for their wedding: a little pop, a little country, some romance and some fun…

Prelude: Pachelbel - Canon in D - Piano Version

Groom's entrance: Autograph - Dallas Smith

Bridesmaids, Ring Bearers, and Flower Girls Entrance: Emily Hackett - Take My Hand

Bride's Entrance: Calum Scott ft. Leona Lewis - You Are The Reason

Signing the Register: Beautiful Crazy - Luke Combs

Recessional: Fishing in the Dark - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

After the ceremony, the guests moved inside for a cocktail hour, where Carla, Kevin and their loved ones had transformed the hall into a beautiful reception space with candles, flowers, greens and lights.

Grand Entrance: Club Can't Handle Me ft. David Guetta - Flo Rida

Months before the wedding, Carla contacted me with an idea she had that she wanted to surprise Kevin with. She sent me a number of inspiration photos of a custom monogram light on the wall of the venue. You know I love a good surprise, and I was happy to collaborate with Carla to pull this one off! This lighting feature is called a “Gobo”, and with enough time to get the design finalized before the wedding, there are tons of ways to personalize it to fit your vision.

For the first dance, Carla and Kevin opted to have their parents join them on the dance floor halfway through the first dance, which I love. It’s a great way to share a special moment with your parents, and for any couples who feel nervous being in the spotlight for too long, it can ease a little of that pressure.

First dance: Mad Crazy Love - Tenille Arts

Father Daughter Dance: The Dance - Garth Brooks

Mother Son Dance: Humble and Kind - Tim McGraw

As for the dance floor - what these two wanted was clear: tons of fun, a little something for everyone, but no cheese. I had to laugh when I got music selections before the wedding from Kevin that included the sentence “The one with "slide to the left, slide to the right, two hops this time" is a major nope.”

Carla and Kevin wanted country, classic rock, pop and hip hop - and they knew their crowd well. From two-stepping to classic rock singalongs, their friends and family tore up the dance floor and made this a night to remember.

Here’s what Carla had to say about working with PopJukebox:

Wow!! Stacey was an incredible DJ at our wedding, she was organized, thorough, professional and overall amazing!! We would highly recommend her to everyone!! We feel so grateful she was our DJ and the dance floor was packed until the end of the night.

It was such a treat to be a part of this wedding. And I’d love to give one more shout out to Ang from BRZ Photography - it’s always a pleasure to work alongside her, and as you can see… her photos are amazing!

On with the rest of the photos - enjoy!
