Pengfei + Daichi’s Garden Wedding at UBC Farm

Well, it seems that I have an unprecedented amount of time on my hands, and that means I’ve had time to look up from my textbooks and share some photos and stories from last summer’s weddings.

On a sweet, sunny day in July, I had the privilege of joining Pengfei and Daichi for their wedding. The weather was perfect, the UBC farm and Poplar Grove were so green and beautiful… it was one of those perfect Vancouver days, made even more memorable by the love between these two. I can’t think of a better way to describe this couple - or their wedding day - than sweet. As you look through their photos, I’m sure you’ll see just what I mean.

Pengfei and Daichi met on their first day of school at UBC, so it was very special for them to say their vows at the place where their love story began. They threw an intimate and beautiful outdoor wedding at the UBC farm, using the natural beauty of the farm as the focal point for their day. For wedding favours, they had a huge spread of produce grown at the farm available for guests - complete with customized tote bags to carry the fruit and veggies home.

There was a long list of romantic songs that held special meaning for these two. The three of us spent a lot of time before the wedding determining the best spot for each special song, and making sure that the most important songs would be heard at just the right time. Because there were many to choose from, we also included the rest of their special songs in the pre-ceremony, cocktail and dinner playlists.

The ceremony was heartfelt and special, with lots of personal touches - and a lot of laughter! When you scroll through the ceremony photos below, you really get a sense of the joy and sweetness that was shared between Pengfei, Daichi and their loved ones.

Ceremony Music:

Bridal Party Entrance: I Love How You Love Me - Rusty Clanton

Pengfei’s Entrance: Isn’t She Lovely - Harry Bradford arrangement

Signing of the Register: First Time - Macy Gray

Recessional: This Will Be - Natalie Cole

Cocktail hour began immediately after the ceremony, and during that time, the couples’ friends transformed the Poplar Grove into a dreamy woodland dinner party. Their friends were so cheerful and so helpful - this wedding was so beautiful, and it couldn’t have happened without the many hands that pitched in to bring the day to life.

Pengfei and Daichi opted to keep their reception simple, with just two toasts and a thank you speech from the couple before getting the dance party started.

First Dance: I Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You - Frankie Valli

I want to give a special shout out to Oliver and Jeremy from Twinography Studio. They are the source of these amazing photos, and were such a treat to work alongside of on this wedding day. They were laid back and helpful, and it was so clear that they understood what Pengfei and Daichi wanted out of their day. I look forward to the next time I get to work alongside them!

On with the rest of the photos - enjoy!
