Thank You, 2016!

Allow me to share an unpopular opinion: 2016 has been awesome.

First of all, I got to celebrate with some incredible couples. From my first wedding of the year (Kim and David, who swing danced down the aisle), to Dianne and Matt who tied the knot on a snowy day in December, this year was filled with such fun and romantic weddings I consider myself lucky to be a part of. To everyone who entrusted me with their wedding dance floors: thank you.

At nearly every wedding and event I performed or spoke at, I got to work alongside some of the great friends I've met in Edmonton's talented wedding industry. Seeing a familiar face at a wedding warms my heart so much, and I am constantly impressed by the talent and professionalism of my co-collaborators in this industry. To everyone I had the privilege of working alongside: thank you.

This spring, I was mulling over some changes in my business, and I called on four businesswomen I trust and respect for advice... in the form of a group chat. That chat turned into a brunch, and one brunch turned into a regular get-together, and now I simply don't know what I would do without the support of those four women. To my Boss Babes (Katlyn, Cheryl, Jenn and Nicole): thank you.

In 2016, I enjoyed speaking at four wedding industry gatherings, including two professional development events for Edmonton's WPIC (Wedding Planning Institute of Canada) alumni, and the International Live Events Association (ILEA) WEDmonton event. Sharing my passion and experience with other professionals is both humbling and exciting for me. To everyone who invited me to speak, listened, asked questions and gave feedback: thank you.

Other highlights include...

... getting to travel to play music. I visited Vancouver twice (once to DJ a wedding, and once to provide audio for Canada Photo Convention), and to Toronto (also for Canada Photo Convention).

... performing at some super fun and creative events in Edmonton. I loved playing at Food Fight YEG, a Yelp Elite event, and Shandro Photo's 10 year business anniversary party.

... playing for my largest audience ever - 2100 people!

Oh... and I got married!

Marrying the best person I've ever met made 2016 my favourite year yet; it has been nothing short of a dream come true. ( You can read about our wedding here.)

To my clients, collaborators, friends and family, thank you so much for an incredible year. I couldn't have done it without you.

Love,

Stacey
