Peaceful Christmas Hymns for 2016
FIVE SLEEPS ‘TIL CHRISTMAS!! Last year we shared a big playlist of Cheese-Free Christmas Music, featuring all sorts of contemporary and fun music to play during the holidays. It definitely still holds up for this year, so if you haven’t yet, you can check it out here!
Now that Christmas is just around the corner, I’ve created another Christmas playlist. While I love listening to some upbeat and fun Christmas music while doing my holiday baking, when Christmas finally arrives, I personally like to switch to more quiet, reflective Christmas music.
For me, my faith is central to the way I celebrate Christmas, and (unsurprisingly) music is a big part of the experience. I love the timelessness of Christmas hymns. While you’ll definitely catch me singing along about mistletoe and trimming the tree, when it gets to Christmas Eve, Christmas hymns are a must for me – they help turn off the mental busy-ness of presents and things to do and places to be, and bring the focus back to the hope that Christmas brings.
Here are ten of my favourite Christmas hymns, perfect for a quiet Christmas evening. Enjoy!
We Three Kings – Karla Adolphe
Oh Holy Night – Phil Wickham
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel – Sleeping At Last
Go Tell it On The Mountain – Citizen Shade
Joy To The World – John Mark McMillan
Oh Little Town of Bethlehem – Noah Guthrie
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing – Drew Holcomb and the Neighbours
Silent Night – Lauren Diagle
God Rest You Merry Gentlemen – Dustin Kensrue
Oh Come All Ye Faithful – Kings Kalaidescope
Oh, and if you’d like to listen to them all online – CLICK HERE for a YouTube playlist featuring the entire list. Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel for more playlists in the future! Merry Christmas!
