Melody + Trina's Relaxed Rustic-But-Totally-Punk-Rock Wedding

The first time I met Melody and Trina, our meeting ended in high fives all around - Mel, Trina, and their son, Quinn. They are the kind of gals that are so fun, friendly and laid back that it only took a few minutes to feel like we were old friends. Oh, and our mutual love of punk rock helped, I suppose.
For these brides, the absolute most important thing to them was that their friends and family had a great time. With an intimate guest list of 50 adults and 14 kids, they wanted every guest to hear music they loved, and to spend the night on the dance floor. Of course, they also had their own favourites that they wanted incorporated in their reception. This included the likes of Kate Nash, Dramarama, Queen, Michael Jackson, 80s and 90s pop, Flogging Molly, and more. Challenge: gladly accepted!
First Dance: Marry Me - Train
Father Daughter and Mother Son Dance: Danny's song - Anne Murray
Because Mel and Trina wanted to honour their son throughout their wedding, they included him with a Mother Son dance. At the beginning of the song they chose, Mel and Quinn danced alongside Trina and her dad. Halfway through, they switched partners so everyone was included. Not only was it a very special moment, Anne Murray's Danny's Song was a perfect selection - I loved looking around the room and seeing so many guests completely focused on the guests of honour, while singing along to this beautiful, classic song.
And even though we ain't got money
I'm so in love with you honey
Everything will bring a chain of love
And in the morning when I rise
Bring a tear of joy to my eyes
And tell me everything's gonna be all right...
Once the dance floor got underway, it was truly a night that needed a very diverse collection of songs. The room was full of music lovers, and the dance floor filled with everything from 90s dance tracks to CCR and country two-steps to The Clash.
By far the most memorable moment for me was when I played a song that the brides had told me was one of their favourites - Tobacco Island by Flogging Molly. I expected them to dance, of course... but this was something else. The guests on the dance floor spread into a circle to make way for Mel and Trina, who let loose, dancing (Mel was even barefoot!), singing and enjoying their jam with their whole hearts. It was awesome.
Here's what Mel had to say about their experience with PopJukebox:
"Stacey was amazing! All of our guests have said how much fun she was. She was super attentive and kept everyone from our elderly grandparents to the 7 year olds dancing. I would get married again just to have Stacey DJ again!"
Thank you so much, Mel and Trina, for including me in such a special, memorable day.
Huge thanks to Trish E Photography for sharing the day with me, and for the beautiful images in this post.
