A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of providing music for Creative Edmonton‘s Heroes vs. Villains market event. Chan Rin, also of Vivid Ribbon, is the director of photography for Creative Edmonton, and got some great shots from the event that I just had to share with you. Here are some highlights of the event!

There were a bunch of awesome local vendors selling and showcasing their services…

Big Rock just recently introduced a beer made from hops from New Zealand, so naturally I had to give that a try…

A couple of the many cosplayers at the event…

Part of the entertainment for the night included some super talented young hip-hop and contemporary dancers. My favourite dance crew was the first performance – some amazing kids with tons of energy and crazy dance skills:

The Heroes vs. Villains contest was another great part of the night, where contest coordinators Kip & Josie brought out some healthy competition between a few local heroes…

Chan also organized a group of Urban YEG photographers to capture the event – check out their Instagram account at @urbanyeg to see what it’s all about. it was a little bit like having the paparazzi around…

I’m not complaining, though, because Vivid Ribbon got some great snaps of me in all the comic-inspired wardrobe items I have!

My set for the night included a pretty good mix of music, but the key was high-energy music that set a very fun atmosphere in the venue. The night started off with a bit of soul, swing and rockabilly, then as we got into hip-hop performances and a packed venue, I kicked it up a notch with more pop and upbeat hip-hop. Towards the end of the night there weren’t a ton of people left, so for the last portion of the the night, I took it back to a bit of fun 80s stuff like Blondie, Queen, Billy Idol and Depeche Mode.

Again, thanks so much to Vivid Ribbon for these photos, and to Creative Edmonton for having me a part of such a sweet, community-focused event!

If you need a DJ for a corporate or community event in Edmonton, get in touch! I would love to create a soundtrack that takes your event to the next level.
