Is it just me, or does 1999 seem like it was about 8 years ago, max? Well, here’s your mind-blower of the day: babies born in 1999 are getting their drivers licenses this year. Crazy, huh?
In reality, many of the awesome songs that couples ask for when they request Top 40 at their wedding dance are songs that are 5 -15 years old. Yes, ‘SexyBack’ is still requested all. the. time… and that song is nine years old. There are a surprising amount of songs that people mention in the same breath as ‘newer top 40’ that are almost a decade old! And you know what? There’s nothing wrong with that! Those classic Top 40 hits have staying power, and they still get the dance floor pumping at plenty of wedding receptions.
Here are 10 songs that are between 9 and 15 years old that still get requested on the regular (and still get people on the dance floor, every time). Maybe you’ll see a few that you need to add to the ‘must-play’ list for your wedding DJ!
