On a very wintery day in Edmonton, Stephanie and Paul tied the knot at The Matrix Hotel. I was delighted to be part of this wedding… Paul and Steph are so much fun, and have awesome taste in music! We collaborated on a mix of indie rock, jazz, and fun throwbacks – a little something for everyone.
I always love performing at The Matrix Hotel, as both the food and service are always a cut above the rest. That said, Steph and Paul brought together an awesome group of vendors for their wedding:
On with the music selections!
Real Man’s Man (William Regal WWF Theme) – This was a really funny way to kick off the ceremony in a lighthearted mood!
Society Song – Sarah Slean
Please Be Good To Me – Sarah Slean
Signing of the Register:
Emmylou – First Aid Kit
Yeah – Usher
During the reception, cocktail and dinner music was jazz, big band and swing, including a little Postmodern Jukebox covers to add some anticipation for the Top 40 that was to come on the dance floor.
The Dog Days Are Over – Florence and the Machine
Maybe I’m Amazed – Paul McCartney
For their first dance, Steph wanted to kick it off with something funny – we started with Ginuwine’s “Pony” for a few bars (just enough to get an awesome reaction from the crowd!), before transitioning into their beautiful real first dance choice: Stand By Me, covered by Florence and The Machine.
Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance:
Landslide – Fleetwood Mac
And now for the dance floor selections! Some of the requests for the night included…
You Make My Dreams – Hall & Oates
Dancing in the Dark – Bruce Springsteen
Shake it Off – Taylor Swift
Brown Eyed Girl – Van Morrison
Shout – Isley Brothers
Hey Ya! – Outkast
Twist and Shout – The Beatles
Single Ladies – Beyoncé
